## What TattMe is and is not

- TattMe is a marketplace and software platform, not a tattoo studio and not the tattoo service provider. Tattoos are performed by independent artists who set their own rates, policies, and availability; TattMe provides the discovery, booking, and payment layer around them.
- Consumers (referred to on the site as collectors) discover tattoo artists by location, tattoo style, subject matter, portfolio, price range, reviews, and availability.
- Tattoo artists create a profile, publish a portfolio, and manage booking requests, scheduling, deposits, payments, and client communication.
- TattMe emphasizes seeing real tattoo work across different skin tones, so people can find artists with demonstrated experience tattooing skin like theirs.
- Artists set their own rates. TattMe does not take a percentage commission out of an artist's tattoo rate, and there are no monthly fees to get started.
- Deposits and payments are processed through Stripe inside the platform. A deposit is set by the artist, goes to the artist, and counts toward the final cost of the tattoo.

## Skin-tone-inclusive discovery

Tattoo photos on TattMe are tagged with the skin tone they were done on, using a ten-point scale, and that tag is a filter in tattoo search. This exists so someone can see how a style actually reads on skin like theirs before booking, and find artists with a real portfolio of work on melanated skin.
